We are thrilled to announce the presentation of our third Community Connector Award to WBI alum and Teaching Assistant Donna Martire Miller, for her work creating the recently released book Finding Unshakable Happiness

Connecting our community is a key aspect of WBI’s mission, and the award is presented to individuals who go over and above to strengthen those connections. In Finding Unshakable Happiness, Donna has brought together the reflections of more than two dozen WBI alumni, each of whom contributed a chapter sharing how positive psychology has impacted their life.

“Each chapter offers a personal testament, and each story is heartfelt and beautifully written,” Donna says. “Together, we have accomplished something magical.”

“This book is filled with real-life applications of positive psychology,” says WBI founder Megan McDonough. “These stories of unshakable happiness are like water in the desert, filling us with possibilities when life dries us out.”

Donna and many of the book’s contributing authors will make appearances during our Wholebeing Book Club series focused on Finding Unshakable Happiness. The series runs for six Mondays, October 11–November 15, from 7:00–8:30 pm ET. Register free here. The book is available in paperback as well as eBook format.

Finding Unshakable Happiness is Donna’s second book in a planned trilogy; the first was The View from Within: Spiritual Pathways to Happinessco-created with her fiancé, photographer Joseph A. Bologna. Published in June 2021, it’s a collection of photos depicting the sights, insights, and teachings of spiritual practices from around the world.

Donna is also an international keynote speaker, trainer, and presenter on subjects that increase happiness and make life worth living. She holds a Master’s in Counseling and Human Resource Development, is a graduate of WBI’s Certificate in Wholebeing Positive Psychology (CiWPP) and Positive Psychology Coaching Certification, and has also studied with the University of Pennsylvania and the VIA Institute.

For 30 years, Donna served as executive director of HELP for Kids, a positive parenting, family-strengthening center in Southern Connecticut. She has worked with large private and public organizations in developing practices and strategies to support more successful interventions. Donna is also the founder of Happily Ever Actions™, providing people with actionable strategies, thought-provoking insights, and evidence-based tools for optimal living.

Previous recipients of the Community Connector Award include longtime WBI faculty member Phoebe Atkinson, for her work as a CiWPP Teaching Assistant; and CiWPP grad and former Teaching Assistant Nicole Stottlemyer, for her coordination of local alumni meet-ups around the country.
