Radically Receptive Meditation

A weekend workshop

Focusing attention in meditation can be a challenge. The mind tends to fight staying in one place. In this weekend workshop, you’ll play with a softer, gentler, and kinder way to cultivate mindful awareness. With Radically Receptive Meditation, you’ll experience the simplicity of an open focus—one that works with the mind as it is, trusting a natural unfolding as the heart of the practice.

Whether you’re new to meditation or are a seasoned practitioner, this lighthearted practice provides a novel approach–one that does not involve following the breath or focusing concentration. Just the opposite, in fact. This practice is about opening the lens of your attention, fully embracing the organic, natural movement of thoughts, feelings, and sensations.

You’ll get a copy of the book Radically Receptive Meditation and a new journal for your practice, and there is no homework before you arrive. All you need to do is come ready to meet yourself.

The course starts Friday, November 13, 2015 at 7:30 pm and ends Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 11:30 am.

Key Principles
  • The mind has a natural way of being.
  • You can work constructively with the mind as it is in your meditation practice.
  • Being kind to your mind is healthy.
  • Journalling about meditation uncovers more about the practice.

Who This is For

Anyone interested in meditation, whether you’ve never practiced before or are a seasoned practitioner of many years.

Location
The Guest House Retreat and Conference Center is located in Chester, Connecticut, midway between New York City and Boston, in the scenic Connecticut River Valley. It is situated on 17 wooded acres, close to lakes and saltwater swimming, and adjacent to the 16,000-acre Cockaponset State Forest, with many miles of hiking trails. The nearby town of Chester is a charming New England town featuring several fine restaurants, cafés, art galleries, and boutiques. Also nearby is the town of Mystic, with its world-famous aquarium and world-class boutique shopping. Gillette Castle, an early 20th-century mansion built in the style of a medieval castle, is a popular local attraction. The 10-minute car ferry ride across the Connecticut River is an enjoyable way to see some of the local scenery and travel to Gillette Castle.
